When demon-spewing portals plunge the world into chaos, John Woods is granted the worst possible ability for a socially anxious loner: to gain the power he needs to survive, he must make people think he's cool.
It was, admittedly, an abnormal day for John. Leaving his house without being forced into it by circumstances or family was a rare occurrence, but it was a nice day in London, and he fancied a burger.
Unfortunately, the end of the world comes before he can take a single bite. Things get even stranger when text starts appearing in the corner of his vision.
He soon realizes that he has a unique Aura system. When he does something cool, he gains Aura points, which he can spend on permanent power-ups. When he acts lame, his points go down. Fighting monsters? Cool. Running away screaming and crying? Not so much. It almost seems like a cruel joke, but the Aura system is very real—as are its rewards.
Thriving in this new reality seems impossible. Demons scour the streets, and the death toll is unimaginable. But giving up simply isn't an option.
John will do whatever it takes to uncover the secrets behind the apocalypse. And when every kill is an opportunity for growth...
Guess it's time to go fight monsters.
